Following are the newer details of the rajagopuram that you should look for.
First and foremost is adoration of this rajagopuram with Sri Alwar - Emperumanar - Jeeyar swamy. Around 2 feet tall Sri Namalwar - Sri Emperumanar - Sri Mamunigal deity is majestically and beautifully located in the second stage of the temple. Adiyen is not blessed enough to find the right words to describe the beauty of this anubhavam. What a wonderful adoration.....
This gopuram also has 4 duvara balakargal in each stage of the gopuram and resulting to a total of 12 duvara balakargal (You can see them in the front side and the back side of the rajagopuram). 4 gopuram thangigal in each stage corner of the temple and 4 Yazhi vahanam pair and sima balakargal in the four top corner of this gopuram.
Now this rajagopuram has 5 kalasangal in the top of the gopuram instead of three. This is significant addition for making the rajagopuram more powerful during prana prathistah. And finally, very prominent Thiruman Kappu in both the front and back side of the gopuram.
Once again this rajagopuram was estimated initially for Rs 50,000 and completed at Rs 2.50 Lakhs. After the rajagopuram completion, there is an unbeatable ecstatic satisfaction to see and feel the beautiful anubhavam of this majestic looking raja gopuram.
Thank you very much for kind contribution from Vedics towards the entire rajagopuram construction. HH Sri Emperumanar Jeeyar Swamy conveyed his blessings to Vedics Organizers for helping the Sri Emperumanar Devasthanam to complete this historical activity.
Rajagopuram interior wood carvings are restored to the best possible level. Because of aging, any painting over the wood carving is been absorbed very quickly by this structure and even after 4 paint coating, the real painting adoration doesn't show up. So, reconstruction committee was advised to redo panting several times, so that the painting can finally stay in the carving. Once the painting stays on the carving, adiyen will update this group with pictures.
ThiruMadaPalli and Vimanam
From Tamil Karthigai 1st (Nov - 17 2007) onwards, Sri Emperumanar Sannidhi renovation work has once again started with a new vigor. This time emperumanar temple reconstruction group is using a constructor who renovated many nava thirupathi temple. The first activity for this constructor is to complete the Main thirumadapalli. Very unfortunately, now the cost for completing this thirumadapalli work stands at Rs 7.5 Lakhs against the estimated 1.5 Lakhs. This rework start decision was made due to the fact that Vimanam construction should take place before any unthinkable events and this particular contractors divya desam construction experience. Most importantly, for the required work this constructor has quoted few lakhs lower than his competitor and several recommendations from many interested people for this contractor (including TVS). The hike in the construction cost isn't new to the devasthanam, still considering all the available options and this constructor estimate and his work ethics looks more convincing to the reconstruction committee. Reconstruction committee also decided to take this construction process in several phases and not to rely on a single contractor to complete the entire temple. They have decided to pick people who has construction experience in specific activity and creating competition between contractors to bid for the next work. This strategy seems working now and they have started vimanam reconstruction activity using a different constructor who also has very good experience in reconstructing several nava thirupathi temple. At present, Vimanam estimate is standing at Rs 2.5 lakhs against the estimated Rs 1.1 Lakhs. (Vimanam photograph before renovation.)
On Nov, 28 2007, temple devasthanam has created a balalayam for the vimanam. So, the vimanam construction activity has started already. Total of 30 peoples (17 for thirumadapalli and 13 for vimanam) are started working in the temple. Thirumadapalli roof was constructed with ~2 feet thick huge stone structure and during this 800 odd years wear and tear had made the support structure go weak and sinking. Moreover water table is so close to the basement. Now, this contractor is making a change so that this 4 feet thick stone is been reused for the foundation or the basement and going to settle with RCC roofing. Upside is that the water table is no longer a problem due to very strong foundation and most economical cost option. Downside is that the RCC roof should be maintained every 125 years.
Reconstruction committee has started bidding for work contract for the gharbha graham, artha and Main mandapam work estimate. There is a severe competition between few contractors. Adiyen will update this group on the contractor selection soon.
