VEDICS Foundation wishes to thank all of its members for their constant support in all activities pertaining to Divyadesam support and kaimkaryam.  We are pleased to announce that a lot of the kaimkaryams are now stabilized in monetary, physical and idealogical points of view at the Divyadesams we have been offered the opportunity to serve in. Special mention has to be made about volunteers of the Kinchitkaram Trust who have assisted us ably in all these endeavors and have taken the lead on several efforts pertaining to these kainkaryams.

During Velukkudi Sri U. Ve. Krishnan Swami's Tour of Canada and USA in 2012, it was announced that VEDICS will take up service in four places of importance to srivaishnavās. These are Kāttu Mannār Kovil, Tirukannankudi, Sirupuliyur and Koviladi(Appakudathān). Contributions made by members under the aegis of the My Little Mite membership program  have been put to use for these four kshetrams and are to be disbursed in a planned and phased manner.

We bring you updates from Koviladi which is one of the four places mentioned above. Koviladi is a small hamlet located in the midst of the lush banks of Cāuvery and Coleroon rivers. In our sampradāyam it is referred to by the name Tirupper-Nagar which houses the famous Kamalavalli Nāyika sametha Sri Appalarangan Devasthānam.  Vedics Foundation along with valuable support from Kinchitkaram Trust is supporting this Divya Desam by purchasing and delivering groceries on a fortnightly basis. Purchases are made by a volunteer from Srirangam and are transported by appropriate means to Koviladi which is roughly 25 kilometers away.  Provisions include but are not limited to Provisions such as Turmeric, Mustard seeds, Cumin, Lentils, etc., Curds, Ghee (specifically for Appam Prasadam) and firewood. These are all articles required on a daily basis for the preparation of different prasadam prepared and served from the Tirumadapalli (sacred Kitchen). What a joy it is to be able to help in activities that give us a tiny yet very significant role to play in the functioning of a kshetram so majestic in its glory!

Along with these provisions, some additional articles are purchased and delivered for Tirumanjanam (sacred Bath) which takes place every Ekādesi day. Holy water, tender coconuts, Tiru-madhuram (Sacred mixture of cut fruits and honey), paste of turmeric and Sandal are all offered to the utsava murthy of Appāla Rangan.

Our volunteers also help support the Tirunandavanam (Sacred Garden) attached to the temple. Some of our volunteers have expended a lot of efforts and spent numerous man-hours in clearing out what was a rather rough patch of land which is part of the temple premises. The long term goal is for the nandavanam to help supply flowers that are required for the daily and special offerings and worship for Appāla Rangan. The locals and the devasthānam employees have extended their gracious support to all our requests in pushing forward our ambitions for the upkeep of the Tirunandavanam.
