THANIYANGAL BY UYYAKONDAR:

The next two Thaniyans are by Uyyakondar who actually lived before Parashara Bhattar. The term 'sraji nigalitham' meaning Sri Ranganatha bound by Her garland, had already been used by Uyyakondar.

LITERAL MEANING:

The saint-poetess Āṇḍāḷ was born in Srivilliputtur (puduvai) surrounded by paddy-fields and water reservoirs full of beautiful swans. She dedicated her beautiful garland of songs, singing them sweetly. She offered to Him (Krishna) the flower-garland, after wearing it herself. May all of us reverence her and sing her poems.

EXPLANATION:

Born in Sri Villiputthoor abounding in swans, getting Herself married to Sri Ranganatha to whom She offered the thirty verses and (sent) gave the garland already worn by Her;  the garland of verses to us, and garland of flowers being His (sent to the Lord). The interpretation is that what appears as normal meaning in “Gopikaа bhāva" but not revealed easily but discerned by Acharya’s is the inner message. The swans stand for āchāryas and 'nalpaamalai" represents the thirty verses - the lofty verses !
