Yathokthakari Temple Renovation

“Yathoktakari” “sonnavannam seidha perumal “in Tamil translates to “the lord who did as said” what did He do? And who asked to do the same? The well-known story is of one of the twelve azhvars, thirumazhisaipiran asking the Lord of the divyadesam thiruvekka in Kanchipuram to follow who was himself following his disciple who was sent out of kingdom by the king since he refused to sing the praise of the king. Without any second thought yathotakari perumal rolled his serpant bed and followed azhvar and his disciple. The next day when the king realizing his mistake came and apologised azhvar and his disciple decided to come back and instructed perumal accordingly. Perumal without second word followed suit and while reclining back just changed the direction to remind us of the wonderful episode even today. Though this story is more commonly known how did perumal come to divyadesam and when?

When we say Kanchipuram or Thirukachchi only Devaperumal, Varadarajan comes to all our minds. But even before Varadarajan came out of the yaga kundam of Brahma, vegasethu perumal gave his divya darshan to all. Enraged by Brahma performing a yagna in her absence Saraswathi Devi took the form of the river vegavathi and flowed with great vigour to wash out the yagasala. On request of Brahma, perumal became vegasethu (bridge across the river vegavathi) and reclined in the way of vegavathi. Blessed with the divine darshan of perumal, Saraswathi realised her mistake and slowed down. Then brahma continued his yaga and only from that yaga kunda Varadaraja perumal appeared.

That divine temple of yathotakari/vegasethu perumal is under renovation and needs the liberal support from asthikas.

We are happy to report that we have collected the amount required to complete the renovation.  We whole heartedly thank everyone for their support.

Subject: Trip to Koviladi

Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha

Dear VEDICS Foundation volunteers,

Thanks for organizing the trip to Koviladi. It was indeed a great experience to take part in the grand scheme of helping establish a garden and supply flowers to the divyadesam kovil. It was a unique experience for all of us as we have never attempted to physically help in gardens, let alone in a divyadesam.

Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the whole day was the bath in the Cauvery river. All of us miss an experience like this since we haven't got the chance in a long time because of growing up in a city and moving off to college.

The bhagavathar was also very kind and helpful and taught us first-timers how and what is required to be done when going about setting up a garden. He seemed a very experienced person and deftly handled a lot of difficult tasks and gave us plenty of advice and opportunities to help him.

The finishing touch was sharing our favourite Perumal, divyadesa, acharya anubhavams in the cool shade of the canopy built next to the garden. The more fun information was sharing the prasadams that everyone enjoyed to offer their perumals at home and their favorite portions of arulicheyal and stotra padams.  We finished by going over the story of Arulala Perumal Emperumanar from the Arayirapadi Guruparampara Prabhavam, whose life is a living example of humility, deep learning and great devotion - all are values which we youngsters should specially aspire towards.

Fruits and refreshments offered to the Perumal were given to us at the end in plenty and we hope to get some more anubhavams, prasadams and opportunities to serve in future.

Sirupuliyur

Sirupuliyur-Perumal-1

SiRupuliyUr
சிறுபுலியூர் - அருள் மா கடல் அமுது
AzvAr-s are those who have lost themselves in the auspicious qualities of EmperumAn. Tirumangai AzvAr's exceptional attachment towards Divyadesam in well known. He is immersed in archavathAram-s.
The upanishad vAkyam "sarvam pUrNam sahOam:" - रस्र्वम् पूर्णम् सहोम् - expresses the fact that EmperumAn's qualities are at its full blossom in the archAvathArams.

Preaching What He Practices
Tirumangai AzvAr preaches to one and all to fall on the holy feet of SiRupuliyUr EmperumAn instead of approaching other deities who take to EmperumAn as their ultimate rescue and resort (kaLLam manam viLLum vagai karudhik kazhal thozhuvIr - கள்ளம் மனம் விள்ளும் வகை கருதிக் கழல் தொழுவீர்) - Periya Tirumozhi 7.9

The Ocean of Mercy
The Lord is full of compassion. His mercy has got no match. The mercy is an ocean in which Kaliyan is immersed. He aptly underlines this when he names this particular EmberumAn directlty with this quality. The Ocean of Mercy - क्रुपा समुद्रम् - The aruL mA kadaL amudhu - அருள் மா கடல் அமுது
Swami NampiLLai spurns, the Devas taste for amrudham, as amrudham isjust like salt essence (vuppuch sARU -  உப்புச் சாறு)  as compared to EmperumAn Himself.
Here in SiRu-puliyUr He is not just Ocean of Compassion but this is amrudham for you.
Feasting the beautiful gardens and fields in and around, the SiRupuliyUr temple is bedecked in such wonderful natural surroundings. Even today when prceeds from kollu-mAnkudi towards mayilAduthuRai - the picturesque sight can be cherished from a macro perspective.
The fiedsl and ponds are feather in the cap to the surroundings - vayal oru pAl, pozhil oru pAl - வயல் ஒரு பால் பொழில் ஒரு பால்.

Tiru-mA-magaL
Tirumangai AzvAr-s favourite term on ThAyAr is again spelt out here.  TirumA magaL maruvum siRu puliYur sthala sayanam. திருமாமகள் மருவும் சிறுபுலியூர் சலசயனத்து..

The thAyaR here true to the quality of EmperumAn is dhyA nAyaki thAyar

EmperumAn settles in the mind of devotees
Kaliyan's Tirumozhi on Tiruk-kaDal mallai and  TiRuchERai are hailed for dhathEya shEshathvam -devotion to devotees.
Here, AzvAr recommends just to fall at the feet of devotees who  worship SiRupuliyUr EmperumAn.  Further, AzvAr questions The Lord of TirumAl irum sOlai whether He is in the vEdic verses or in the minds of devotees.  Undoubtedly, the significance of the devotees and the Lord settling in their minds is highlighted here
sEyOngu thirumAl irum sOlai urai mAyA-enakkuraiyAi idhu
maRai nAngin vuLAyO-thEOMbu kai maRaiyOar siRupuliYur salasayanathAyO!

.. மறை நான்கினுளாயோ! தீயோம்புகை மறையோர் சிறுபுலியூர் சலசயனத்தாயோ!

EmperumAn in all forms
AzvAr sees the Lord in all things, the mountains, the clouds , the fire, the water,
karu ma mugil vuruvA, kanal vuruvA  punal vuruvA
peru mAl varai vuruvA ninadh vurvA
thirumA magaL maruvum siRu puliYur sthalasayanathu
aru mA kadaL amudhEa vunadhadiye saranAmE

And finally surrenders unto this Lord -the Ocean of compassion aruL mA kadal amudhu.

BAla sayanam
EmperumAn reclines in a small form and this is the uniqueness of this divya dEsam -Bala sayanam.

Location of the Divya Desam
The Divya Desam is in ChOzha nADu, situated about 16 kms from MayilAduthuRai and can be reached via kollumAnkuidi. (MayilAduthurai-TiruvArur route)

State of Affairs
The temple- particularly the MaNavALa mAmunikaL sannidhi, the Tirumada-p-paLLi, vimAnam and the Gopuram need renovation.
Vedics Foundation has taken up a small portion of the kainkaryam to the tune of 2 lakhs to renovate SvAmi MAmunikaL sannidhi.
